How Signal works

The six resources, membership relation and research workflow.

Signal has six resources: campaigns, accounts, people, runs, monitors and signals. Membership links an account or person to a campaign. A record is an account or a person.

Resource model

Diagram

Accounts and people exist across campaigns. Their core details are shared. Each membership has its own review state, fit values and custom field values. An account can be passed in one campaign and new in another. The contacted state belongs to the person and applies across campaigns.

A campaign defines targets and criteria. Discovery finds records; import researches records you provide. Both produce asynchronous runs. Monitors search for events and produce signals. Export creates a CSV file.

The diagram describes the current API. Monitor targets and signal subjects explains organization ownership and separation of signals from record creation.

Workflow and credits

Creating a campaign, reading records, reviewing records and exporting use no research credits. Discovery, import and monitor runs use credits for the actions they perform. See Prices.

Discover and import are alternative ways to populate a campaign. Review follows either. Monitoring and export are optional. See the guide flow.
